AXIS seeks business development manager
The following is a general guide to the responsibilities and expectations for the position of Business Development Manager:
The Business Development Manager (BDM) is multi-faceted position. AXIS acts as a consultant to its client partners, delivering not only solutions, but education, foresight, and long-standing strategic partnership as well. Therefore, the duties and responsibilities of this position reach beyond a typical sales role.
As the BDM, you will take the lead in identifying and developing strategic business relationships with existing and prospective client partners that support the overall growth strategy of the company. You will work hand-in-hand with the Marketing Team to achieve established sales goals and implement new business initiatives that maximize growth, minimize risk, and generate bottom line revenue.
To be successful in this position, you must have the capacity to stay in-tune with trends, insights, and changes within the retail industry and the industries of target customers. The ability to recognize “prospects” as people and successfully adjust the overall sales strategy according to their unique and individual challenges is critical.
Build and maintain a full, robust pipeline
Prospect and establish new relationships with qualified individuals who match the AXIS Buyer Persona Profiles
Seek out new opportunities with existing client partners
Maintain systemic, adaptive, and ongoing communication with prospects
Manage and update current CRM database (Salesforce)
As part of solution selling (which closes business on value over price), educate and consult with current and prospective clients through in-person meetings, presentations, lunch and learns, webinars, demos, etc. on a regular basis
Develop and implement new sales initiatives, strategies, campaigns, and programs to capture key demographics/markets
Conduct industry research, competitive research, and gather customer insights and feedback; report back to the AXIS team
Identify industry and technology white spaces and opportunities for thought leadership based on information learned from current and prospective client needs
Identify and establish end-use market segments, such as new product launches and emerging trends/markets
Develop sales forecasts
Conduct research on individual companies and project opportunities; write and document RFPs/RFQs/etc.
Assist with pre-show marketing, communication, and sales preparation, as well as post-show follow-up for any AXIS event, examples: trade shows, expos, sponsored events, educational forums, etc.
Collaborate with the Marketing Team to develop, adhere to, and continually iterate an Inbound Sales Process
Some travel required

Experience with B2B Sales
Successful development and/or management of a diversified, multi-market pipeline
Experience with CRM, prospecting, networking, and lead generation
Past success in meeting set quotas
Strong interpersonal communication skills
B.A. in a related field, or sufficient industry experience
Experience in retail design, displays/store fixtures, architecture, and/or project management, with a working knowledge of retail development functions
Retail development experience in one of the following industries: Technology/Consumer Electronics, Sporting Goods/Outdoor Recreation, Home Improvement, or Apparel/Fashion
Experience with Inbound Marketing / Inbound Sales Structure
